Care Assistant / Support Worker
About the Role
We are looking for reliable, committed Care Assistants and Support Workers to join our team. You will work alongside people with a range of needs — including older adults, people with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and physical disabilities — providing care and support in their own homes and in supported living settings.
This is a hands-on, varied role. No two clients are the same, so your day-to-day duties and responsibilities will depend on the individual you are supporting and their specific needs. Full induction is provided before you begin any client work.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The exact mix of duties for any given role will depend on the client and their care plan. In general, duties may include:
- Personal and Physical Care — Assisting individuals with washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and maintaining personal hygiene.
- Monitoring Health and Wellbeing — Taking and recording vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration and weight. Observing changes in physical or emotional condition and reporting concerns to senior staff or healthcare professionals.
- Medication Support — Assisting with medication administration according to care plans and regulatory guidelines.
- Nutrition and Meal Preparation — Preparing meals, supporting feeding where required, and ensuring dietary needs are met.
- Domestic and Practical Support — Light household tasks such as cleaning and laundry, and assisting with daily living tasks such as letter writing, paying bills, and collecting benefits.
- Mobility and Physical Assistance — Helping individuals move safely around their home, supporting with mobility aids and safe manual handling.
- Emotional and Social Support — Providing companionship, conversation, and activities that support engagement and wellbeing.
- Care Planning and Coordination — Following personalised care plans, and liaising family members to ensure continuity of care.
